Check us out in the Hartford Courant

Last Friday, the Hartford Courant published an article featuring Hands On Hartford’s Community Meals soup kitchen program. The article did a fantastic job highlighting our “Take a Break From Work” program where business professionals can come volunteer during their lunch hours. Also mentioned was how convenient and well-organized this program is,

‘I have volunteered for other community projects but will have to say this one is very organized and very well run,’ says MANNA volunteer Cindy Nadolny…Organization, as well as the convenient time slot, has made it easier for Nadolny to spend her time giving back. Once there, she enjoys meeting and speaking with the clients.

Explained in the article was how to volunteer, about our program sites, and what volunteers help out with when they volunteer at Community Meals, “Once at the soup kitchen, volunteers can plate food (before noon), serve meals and interact with clients (from noon to 12:30 p.m.) or help with clean-up (from 12:30 p.m. on)”.

We are grateful for this publicity from the Hartford Courant and for the wonderful article and pictures! Thank you to Crystal Maldonado and Bettina Hansen for your work on the article and the photographs.

You can find the article online here. A video about volunteering at Community Meals can also be found on the Courant’s website.
